Stefano O. Souza
Hello! My name is Stefano O. Souza. Currently, I'm a postdoctoral researcher of the Galactic Nuclei group led by Dr Nadine Neumayer at Max-Planck-Institüt für Astronomie (MPIA) in Heidelberg, Germany. I received my PhD degree at the Universidade de São Paulo in 2024. I also stayed one year (04/2022-03/2023) at the Leibniz-Institüt für Astrophysik Potsdam (AIP), working with Dr Marica Valentini in the Dwarf Galaxies and the Galactic Halo group (led by Prof. Dr. Maria-Rosa Cioni). I am interested in everything about Globular Clusters, from their stellar populations to how they can provide us with valuable information about the formation and evolution of our Galaxy (the so-called Galactic Archaeology). Beyond that, some Globular Clusters are so strange that they are most likely to be Nuclear Star Clusters of the disrupted dwarf galaxies cannibalised by the Milky Way. The Globular Cluster Omega-Centauri (NGC5139) is one clear example of that, and our group has extensively studied it.
